What's On My Mind

You’re Not Left Alone

August 25, 2010

Each person has his or her own level of intellect and absorption of whatever it is being taught. Oftentimes, not being able to get what the teacher or instructor is teaching means that he or she is not interested. Each person also has his or her choice of interest. What he or she may be having difficulty with may only take split second to understand when it comes to his or her choice of interest.

Free Or Paid Bloghost?

August 20, 2010

This is where I started to blog. I loved it because of the short domain. Adding my subdomain would make it still short enough that people can remember without even listing.

I should say the people at i.ph are great. They are real people who would help you with the technical stuff which will most likely be the only problem you will encounter. If it’s language that’s giving you problems then that has nothing to do with the free bloghost. Even if you go for paid, that will still be a problem.

Who’s Into Stock Investing?

August 6, 2010

Who among you are into stock investing? Even before the internet, stock investing has been a hobby for those who financially do not know where to put their money after buying everything they need and want.

Now it has been more accessible since it is available over the internet. You don’t have to go out of the house just to invest!

North Carolina Would Be Perfect!

I’ve been looking around what I can find in North Carolina. As many of you may be aware, I have this childhood dream of traveling the world, one country at a time, with only 3 weeks max in each country. It’s a big dream. It’s still a dream, but I can envision it coming into reality.

Meanwhile,  with the internet within reach, just under the command of my fingers, I can see wonderful things about places. The more my dream gets vividly clear, seeing myself and my family treading the roads and forests, wading the waters, enjoying all the sites the place can offer.

Delivering Mothers: What To Bring With You In The Hospital

July 30, 2010

I have friends who are in their term, just a few weeks short before finally delivering that cutey baby (aren’t all babies cute?). What adds to the excitement and stress (most mothers-to-be are stressed) is the fear of the unknown because they are first time deliverers.

Below is a simple checklist of the important stuff you NEED to bring. You can do without the others. You’ll probably stay in the hospital for just an overnight, unless you’re having a CS, then, you’re staying for a week.

When To Buy Webhosting

There are a lot of free stuff that you can scour over the internet including webhosting. Why buy? Let me lay out the differences between free and paid hosting.

Free hosting is limited, a lot smaller space than paid hosting offers. The same is true with bandwidth. Some other paid hosting even give unlimited bandwidth. That’s important especially if you expect your site to be frequented by visitors. Each load of page by each visitor counts to the bandwidth alloted. The images that you include also count so if you have images that are heavy (file size-wise), that adds to the monthly bandwidth that counts against your limit.

Webhosting Options

July 20, 2010

Unless you have your own server that’s online 24/7, you will need someone else’s if you want your website seen by the world that’s strictly yours. I mean, you have your own domain, your own address, that will never be another’s as long as you maintain it every year.

Why Internet Shopping Is Getting Popular

July 18, 2010

Before the internet existed, all we know when buying stuff, is we go to the local stores around us or travel the distance if we think we can only get what we wanted or needed in that place.

We used to say to let our fingers do the walking…which means to use the directory and call the shops before actually going to that place, to save time.

Go For Gold!

June 25, 2010

by Cecile Cinco

Sometime in between 1990 and 1992, I was able to tour our Central Bank (Philippines). Together with a tourist from Denmark, a roommate, and another friend, we were guided by a family friend who worked there at that time.

It was very educational and fun. We were able to see the factory from the top view. Hung on the wall are series of paper money from old ones to defective ones, many uncut.

The last that we saw during the tour is the big bullion that our eyes can only hold. It was the first gold bullion that I saw in my entire life, for real…not just in movies.

Baseball

June 4, 2010

by Cecile Cinco

When I was a teen, I was taught to play softball, a direct descendant of baseball. The ball is larger, field is smaller, and the throw is underhand. The rules are roughly the same.

During my learning days (literally) at camp during that year (I forgot when! It was long ago!), we were not to allowed to complain, otherwise, we lose points. That’s the basic rule for the whole 2 weeks.

(Sadly, one camper was hit by the ball and a few years later, she had to be operated on her spleen. Sadder than that, during the obstacle course, while a team of was carrying a log about 2 meters long, someone slipped and was pressed over by the log. A few months later, she died.)

I was never able to play baseball, though I wanted to. I enjoyed watching the movie A League Of Their Own, women playing baseball while the men went off to war. I can see myself in Dottie Hinson’s (Geena Davis’) shoes but I doubt it’s ever going to be a reality.

Anyway, baseball is America’s favorite, especially the major league. Want tickets? You can buy them online! Whether you’re for Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, or any team for that matter, getting a ticket online is a breeze. :)
